A new possibility for Pokemon...maybe...?

As you know,Pokemon X and Y are coming out on the 3DS later this year, details have been scarse since the initial reveal trailer, all they only revealed one other Pokemon, and alot of people are keeping busy trying to figure out what the hell Sylveon's type is.

Since the 3DS is more internet friendly than the original DS,some people have speculated that Generation 6 will be the "last' generation of Pokemon.I don't mean that the franchise will die off,I mean that they won't release anymore more paired versions of Pokemon because it won't be necesary.

Game Freak could make Generation 6 the perpetual generation and just release new regions and Pokemon as expansion pack DLC.
In the past,Game Freak had to hide the event Pokemon data in the game carts,so people always hacked the games and we know what Pokemon will be events years before they come out.

If Game Freak embraces the internet, they could just not include the event Pokemon on the game cart and release them later on as DLC,hopefully for free.

The concept has never been done before,at least to my knowledge, with any franchise,so Pokemon might introduce a new thing to the video game world.

Game Freak has been ambitious as of late,so I could see this happening.
The Dream World/Pokemon Global Link in Gen 5 is an example of this, how many games also have the ability to connect to a webpage that allows you to get more stuff in your games like Pokemon with different abilities and items to help you on the main games?

The Dream World was forshadowed all the way back in Ruby and Sapphire back in 2003,and the concept of DLC was sort of touched upon with Mew way back in 1995,on the Game Boy.ON.THE.GAME.BOY.

I have no idea how likely it is,but just thinking about it makes me look forward to the future of Pokemon,I've been a fan since the beginning and the future for the pocket mons has never looked so bright.

Throwaway lines could have more meaning
than we initially think.
