Next Pokemon designs

Ok,I'm writing at the end of 2012,still in Generation 5,before any news of Generation 6 is out.
There's 649 Pokemon so far,and we've got badass designs, cutesy designs and just strange designs in every generation.

Well, what else could they come up with? We're guaranteed to get a generic bird pokemon,a normal type critter,3 elemental starters and some sort of Pikachu-esque rodent again.
I don't know what else they can use for Legendary Pokemon since alot of them are based on Japanese mythology and Generation 4 had around 15 Legendaries.

Komodo Dragon
We have Pokemon that control space, time and antimatter, and we have some based on the Yin and Yang,so I have no idea what could be next.
Here's some animals that could be the next Pokemon.

A komodo dragon
A panda
A koala
A dolphin
A platypus
A okapi
A llama
A peacock
A pistol shrimp
A vampire squid
An okapi
A racoon-dog or Tanuki.
Ugh,a roach pokemon...
A flea
A fly
An echidna
A werehog
A termite
A hammerhead shark
Any breed of dog
A Pegasus
A flying whale

Why don't we have a dolphin Pokemon yet?
A swordfish
An ostrich that only has one head.
A manticore
Zombie?

That just about covers alot of animals, but I'm sure there's tons more that I'm unaware of.Besides,Pokemon isn't all animals,we need some inanimate objects thrown in there.

Car?
Chair?
Stapler?
Dynamite?
Umbrella?
A gummy bear?
An rc toy that evolves into a mecha robot?
Suit of Armor, could be a ghost?
A cell phone that evolves into a smartphone?
Phantom Hourglass?
Portrait of Ruin?
Ocarina or a flute?
That piano with teeth from Mario 64?

This just seems awful and ridiculous but just 3 years ago,I would've said a garbage Pokemon would be just that.We have Trubbish and Garboder, for better or worse.
So I guess we shouldn't underestimate what Game Freak will do,after all, there was never a guide that restricted what a Pokemon can be.
I had fun thinking of possible Pokemon and I'm sure there's still many more that never even crossed my mind, and I look forward to the next 100 or so of these things.

Should Nintendo games have achievements?

"You wrote a somewhat coherent blog!"
Ever since I got my PS3 in the summer of 2012,I realized that trophies are pretty fun.
Sure, some are lazy like beating a chapter in the story mode and some of the trophies names either reference something or are just fun to earn.

While I don't really have a strong need to get a Platunum trophy,I do kind of play a game more or so stuff I normally wouldn't because of I want to get a little trophy.

It's fun being able to show off how good you are and at the same time, sort of advertise obscure games that you've played and hope that some of your friends check out No More Heroes.(Expertly handled plug).
Video games are getting more expensive and trying to get everything out of the game you paid 60 bucks isn't a crazy idea, you'll get what you paid for.

As you may know,I'm a sort of a Nintendo fanboy, and so I must complain yet again that Nintendo is behind the times buy not adding a good achievement system.Currently, the Wii U's achievement system is game-by-game and up to the developers to implement them or not.I don't know how well it works since I don't have a Wii U,so I can't really comment on that.
Say what you will about Air Ride, but it deserves
SOME credit.

Anyway,I sort of want the 3DS to get patched for achievements, mostly because I'm certain I can get all of the ones of Ocarina of Time.Imagine getting an achievement for compleating a 3-heart run,or for getting all the collectables, stuff that fans normally do,but we can show it off to everyone.

I find it weird that Nintendo hasn't properly embraced this system since some of their games already has in game achievements, starting with Kirby's Air Ride.
It should be noted that Kid Icarus Uprising and Super Smash Bros Brawl, other games with similar in-game achievements, had Masahiro Sakurai play a role in the development of these games.

I know people rather Nintendo just focus on the games and ignore achivements, but this could end up hurting them.
Imagine you're at Gamestop and happen to have a PS3 and a Wii U,and you see a game, say Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed.
They're the same price, you know nothing about either version but want to pick it up.
You look on the back of the boxes and make an almost impulsive decision to get the PS3 version because it has Trophies, something the Wii U doesn't list and therefore you get something more if you use that logic.
Third party games on the Wii U might suffer on the platform and in turn,we'll get less games for it.

At the end of the day,it doesn't really matter if they're in or not,at least for me.
People have been speedrunning and 100 percenting games years before these things were ever thought of.They're just a fun little addition that might make you play a game you like just a bit more.

The Vita

Yeah,I talk more about this system than the 3DS for some reason, but that's because the 3DS doesn't have alot going on lately. While the system doesn't have much, the titles it either will or does have seem pretty good.

Persona 4 Golden,Tales of Hearts,Tales of Innocence,Gravity Rush,Legend of Heroes,and Ys.

Mostly full of RPG's but these are the titles that would make me buy a Vita.Hell,I'm ready to buy one right now if it wasn't for the price.
Apparantly,it's going to get a price drop after Christmas time,so that's when I'll pick it up.
Persona 4 and Gravity Rush are so tempting.

I really don't care about the Cross Play thing, but then again,I haven't experienced it yet,so take that for what you will.

The memory also seems like crap,in terms of cost and particular uses.
Unnecesarily expensive memory cards and the fact that you can only have 1 account on a memory card suck.I want a Japanese account, for demos and stuff that we most likely won't get over here,so I need to buy 2 memory cards,I'm still debating the memory size.

Games like Assassin's Creed Liberation and Black Ops Declassified are hurting the system's image, being a mini PS3 that only gets inferior ports. The Vita is getting games from the "big" franchises and when they tend to suck, people are quick to write it off.

The good games tend to not get advertised and they NEED the advertisement, since from my experience, people don't seek out their entertaiment.

I'm probably going to be backing a dead system, but you know what,I want to play some of it's games and play some of the downloadable PSP games,so I'm buying it.

How much longer can Dragon Ball go on?

We all know the Dragon Ball story by heart,so screw the introduction.

The manga has been over well for almost two decades now and the series still enjoys a couple of video games every year, keeping up with the other big shonen titles like Naruto.
Most of these games tell the same story over and over with a couple of "what if" scenarios in most of them, some like Shin Budokai Another Road is just big what if that's  really interesting for the long time fan.
The movies and specials can also be considered what ifs as well, unless if Toriyama was supervising it or something, then you can argue that it's canon.

But you can only do so much with a finished story. What elso could you do with Dragon Ball?
I have a couple of interesting ideas but ultimately wouldn't fit in with the nature of the series.

-A murder mystery involving someone stuffing the corspe in a capsule.
-Finally explaining how Goku got his mysterious heart virus
-How Vegeta spent his childhood
-Bulma's daily life in the city or her childhood.
-How Yamcha became the desert bandit, and how he got his reputation as said bandit.
-How Emperor Pilaf got all his cash from,in fact, just Pilaf and his gang doing something is cool
-How Chi Chi told the innocent Goku about...childmaking
-More Launch doing some more crimes and stuff, explain why she became a truck driver
-More of Gohan's high school life (I know high school anime is everywhere, but still)
- Bardock's early life and how he met his friends
-Yamcha's baseball career

I know alot of these sound like bad fanfics, they probably are,but I'm just tired of seeing the Z Fighters get overpowered and by some miracle, manage to save the day anyway.
Hell,at least GT TRIED something different, and the ideas the writers had were excellent, although the same can't be said for the execution.
Like GT,my ideas sound good, but the execution wouldn't be good.

Pointless post, but I just wanted to organize my thoughts, because Dragon Ball could do so many other stories, they just wouldn't be Dragon Ball.

EX Troopers REALLY can't come over here?

Capcom decided to make this game called Ex Troopers,a heavily manga influenced spin off of Lost Planet.Me being a huge fan of stuff like this,I was of course looking forward to it despite never playing any of the Lost Planet games.

Capcom said a couple of months ago that they had to plans to release it in English speaking countries at the moment, but here were are in December after the game released, maybe they changed their stance?

No,they said it was designed SPECIFICALLY for a Japanese audience.Capcom would have to redo the manga style onamonapia, while I'm sure it's not easy,I know it could be done.
Look at Valkyria Chronicles,a game that has a watercolored manga-esque strategy game that used onamonapia. Most people like this game BECAUSE of the manga influnce,so ideally, the Japanese symbols would stay as is.But would it be worth it?

Yes,this game again.

An excuse to post more of this game.

Well,I did finish the game earlier today,it's still
fresh in my mind.

According to Siliconera,"At launch, the game only sold around 17,400 copies on the 3DS in Japan and even fewer on the PS3."
So the game tanked,so I could see how Capcom could be reluctant to release it over here, but what if they did?

Ex Troopers is a weird game to market,it has great action and multiplayer that many people would enjoy but many wouldn't be able to get past the cartoony visuals.Capcom would have to market it *gasp* towards a western audience, which don't care for this style of game.Americans want a generic soldier doing that "walking away from an explosion with their backs turned" pose than a pink haired anime dude, which is why the Lost Planet series has the visuals it does in the first place.

The game would most likely not do any better here,so what about a PSN release?
Unlike the retail option,Capcom wouldn't have to market it to be get minor sales,it'll just be there for everyone to download and this is probably the route Capcom will take if they decide on a western release.

It sucks when games this good don't come over here, like Dragon Ball Kai Ultimate Budoden, the only Dragon Ball fighting game on the DS and it's the only one that doesn't get an english release. That made no sense,so as soon as it looked all hope was lost,I imported it.I'll do the same here,I played the demo and I enjoyed that 20-30 minute demo more than the entirety of Lost Planet 1.Then again,I'm biased.

On the event it does come over here,I'll buy it again, why?Because it would be nice to experience the game's story and fully grasp everything.

PlayAsia is where I tend to get most of my imports,so support it,it's been good to me.

Sega

First game that I got 100% completion.
All those emblems...mine!
When I grew up,all I played from Sega was the Gamecube Sonic games, and I enjoyed all of them.
I grew up more on Sonic than I did on Mario,I was sort of a Sonic fanboy, only with the internet and crappy recolor drawings.I even loved Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Riders!I liked Shadow's game because I was a Shadow fan,the guns and vehicles could've been gone and I wouldn't care,as long as I played with my favorite hedgehog.
However,I discovered Riders was shit during a recent playthrough a few months ago,my god,I don't know what the hell I saw in that game and it was because my Sonic fanboyness (totally a word) blinded me to good games.

Well,no amount of fanboyness could blind me from the abyssmal Sonic 06,I hated it then and I still hate it now.It put me off the series for a while and it didn't help that Sega was trying weird shit with the games.

After that,I started to give up on Sonic and went moved on to other games and genres like Ace Attorney, the Tales series and many more.Once Sonic started gaining more momentum,I checked out Sonic Colors and Generations at some point, and just like that,I started to love Sonic again.

I fucking love Vyse from Valkyria Chronicles and
Sonic Racing Transformed,I need to play his game now.
So I check Sonic & Sega All Star Racing and it was pretty good, had a blast. Then I checked out Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed and I'm loving even more, the series is better than Mario Kart in my opinion.
So I start racing with these Sega characters and realized that I always heard about these games but I never tried them.So this is where I am now, prepare for an abrupt change of mood.

While my tastes in gaming expanded,I still never checked out games like Jet Set Radio or Nights, even as I write this,I still haven't played them despite hearing nothing but positive things, yet I have Sonic Adventure HD  on my PS3.
Sega is not doing so hot right now and I can't help but feel a little responsible, since I never supported their other IP's.

I bought Valkyria Chronicles at some point and bought Rhythm Thief on the week it was launched and I loved those games.I'm looking at this gameplay video for Vanquish and it looks fucking incredible!I want to finally experience games Shenmue and Skies of Arcadia on the PSN,and I want them to do well so long time Sega fans can get their Shenmue 3 and other sequels.

I have a list of Sega games that I plan to buy and some games that my interest but not sold on.

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection(Has Phantasy Star)
Jet Set Radio
Crazy Taxi
NiGHTS
Shenmue(put it on PSN)
Skies of Arcadia(put this on PSN)
Space Channel 5
Add caption
Yakuza(I need the HD collection to come over here so I can get into the series)
Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3 (If 3 ever comes over here)
Phantasy Star Psp games
Vanquish
Binary Domain
Hell Yeah!Attack of the Dead Rabbit
ChuChu Rocket (iOS)
Rhythm Thief(iOS,heavily debating to get this again)

Shit load of games huh?I need a Vita for the handheld ones, which might take a while to get one,but this covers the games.
I'm not mindlessly throwing my money away,I just want to support Sega for making good games and get some enjoyment in the process.
Now let's say what would if Sega went under. That would be tragic, wouldn't it?So in that case,Sega would have to sell the company to someone, and I feel that the right choice would be Nintendo.

Sega and Nintendo combined would be pretty kickass, right?
Except look at Nintendo, alot of their Ip's like F-Zero,Custom Robo,Star Fox,even Metroid, get tossed aside for the likes of Mario,Zelda and Kirby.
Kirby had a better 20th Aniversary than Metroid did, which Nintendo didn't even acknowledge, and that's horrible!
Nintendo would do no better with Phantasy Star and Shenmue, hardly making them revelent.
But I suppose that's better than Sega going away for good.

I'm just an 18 year old kid that doesn't have any experience with this stuff,so I'm sure I've said something incredibly stupid without even realizing,so I'll stop now.I wonder if it's even readable.

Someone liked Dragon Ball Evolution!?

So I was in speech class and we had to briefly list our inspirations, one of which was Goku.
After everyone stopped laughing (I unintentionally make people laugh with my responses in that class) the teacher/coach is all like "I saw that Dragon Ball Z movie on Fx the other day,and it was pretty good".

I nodded with a smile, but I was thinking "HOW?!WHY?!Did he even know what he was watching?!Did he understand it?!"

I can't even come up with a caption,I'm still in shock!
Some other students were like "Nah,that movie sucked" but I stayed quiet, not knowing how to respond.I have not met a single person that thought the movie was "pretty good",I thought the movie did very little right and fucked everything else up,and that's the general consensus.

I guess it's a movie with good action but with a incoherent story to the general public that doesn't know about Dragon Ball,as he said that he never watched the cartoon, just the movie.

I didn't get a chance to talk more about the movie because class was about to end shortly, and I wonder what his answer would've been.

I just had to write an entry while it was still fresh in my mind,so I hope you enjoyed what could be my most unique entry ever.

Pokemon on Wii U

Pokemon had an interesting selection on the Wii.

Pokemon Battle Revolution was the first Pokemon game to have online play WITHOUT the need to have friend codes, had some cool stadiums and had excellent music. It was more a compliment to Diamond and Pearl, you couldn't get the most out of it without those games.

Pokemon Ranch wasn't even a game,it was a place to store your Diamond/Pearl/Platinum Pokemon and if you put 999 Pokemon in there, you got a free Mew.10 bucks for a Mew basicly.

We didn't get the Wiiware Mystery Dungeon games,so I can't speak for those.
Pokemon Rumble was fun game that was a little too expensive for what it was,a beat-em-up(?) that only used the A button and somehow got a retail sequel.

PokePark Wii was a fun diversion,a collection of mini games, spread out in this park, exploring some different areas with a Pikachu.I played through this game twice somehow, and while it was fun,it's too repetive and definitely intended for a younger audience.
PokePark 2 is more of the same, just with the Black/White Pokemon added in,I never picked it up.

This is what everyone seems to want,a new game in the same vein as Colosseum and XD,and a new Pokemon Snap.

Over 600 Pokemon?Gamepad as a camera?Sold.
Snap would be really cool on the Wii U,using the Gamepad in some cool way,but it could also be done on the 3DS,so I don't know, all I know it that everyone wants a new Snap game.

A console RPG Pokemon game could work out but I'm sure Game Freak has enough problems with the 3DS main series and a Wii U version would take some of the appeal away from the 3DS ones.

What I think they'll do is a Pokemon Battle Revolution U or something,a compliment to the main series on the 3DS,but with better battle graphics and online play.
What I want from such a game is for the mini games from Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 to return, something fun to do when I don't want to battle.
Since the PokePark games exist,I don't know how likely it is,so I doubt my desire will come true.

The series can make some daring moves though, such as Conquest a few months ago,so an MMO isn't out of the question. The Wii U has potential for online and a Pokemon MMO would defintely be a killer app.

Combat that isn't so stiff...
I personally want a Pokemon action RPG,like Tales of Symphonia or something, playing as a Pokemon against other Pokemon, like a fully realized combat system from PokePark Wii.

with the elements of a Tales games,it could work.

I can't tell what the hell they'll end up doing with the series, for all I know, they might combine Monster Hunter with Pokemon..there's definitely an audience for that,so someone make that happen!

Environments like Xenoblade Chronicles...

Combat from Monster Hunter...
Realistic looking Pokemon...
and you have the best selling game of all time.

Pokemon on 3DS.

Pokemon already has a presence on 3DS,the Pokedex 3D app,Rumble Blast,Dream Radar, and the new Mystery Dungeon game.Excluding Rumble Blast, all of these use the Pokedex 3D character models and with the pattern, people expect the next main installments of Pokemon to have 3D animations.

But Pokemon is in a specific situation. On the DS,many RPGs moved from sprites to using character models,Golden Sun,Final Fantasy, and Dragon Quest are pretty good examples.
Etrian Odyssey and the Shin Megami Tensei use 3D graphics but the enemies tend to be sprites, but Etrian Odyssey 4 had 3D monsters now and Shin Megami Tensei 4 looks like it will even have a 3D overworld.

Now what should Pokemon do?The spin offs have no problem, but the main series just made a big leap with their battle animations.Moving Pokemon sprites while battling were kind of a big deal, and I'm sure Game Freak still wants to get some use out of them,so I'm not so sure. The series tends to be pretty conservative in general,so this isn't easy to predict.
Games like Code of Princess still use sprites and people didn't have a problem with that.

Surely Pokemon can do the same. But Pokemon could also use the Pokedex 3D models, they could probably get the job done considering Pokemon stay in their own field during battles. The more I think about it,the more I think that Pokemon WILL use the 3D models, you can't really have the main series STIIL use sprites when the spin offs use 3D models.

In fact,I bet the World Tournament in Black/White 2 was a farewell to all the Gym Leaders and Champion in their sprite glory. So with those arguments in mind,it's very likely that Pokemon will leap into 3D.

Worst case scenario, memory becomes an issue,649 Models at least, the overworld, and music might prove to be too ambitious for the 3DS,and will be forced to use sprites.I think that 3D models take up more space than 2D sprites but I'm not really sure.

Kind of a pointless post, but this was bugging me for a while now,but I think I found the answer while writing this,so everything worked out in the end.
Whatever Game Freak decides to do,I'm still going to buy the 6th generation of games and they're still going to make millions regardless of the visuals, but it was something that needed to be addressed.
